Air mattresses are wonderful when you need a fast bed, and cant take your mattress with you. They are comfortable, and will allow you to get a great night of sleep in a matter of seconds. Over the course of that summer I'd gotten in the routine of keeping on the move and regularly only camped in one spot for a single night.
